Operating structure and funding methods
A committee of volunteer Trustees runs CDP. All Trustees give their time freely so that 100% of all monies raised can go towards the community development training sessions.
Our partner organisation, CDP Australia focuses on developing, planning, advising, directing and funding the CDP training programme. CDP Australia works closely with a local partner, HAAPNET, who is responsible for organising, scheduling, and managing the training sessions and recruiting and training country coordinators/trainers in Africa. HAAPNET’s President, Bishop Martin Muita (‘Bishop Martin’), provides direction and oversight to the overall training coordinator and country coordinators. The four countries we work in, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, each have a country coordinator. The CDP committee in the UK meets regularly with Bishop Martin and with committee members from the Australian committee for updates, planning and coordination.
HAAPNET is responsible for organising the resources needed for the training and scheduling the training sessions with each country’s coordinators/trainers. It is also responsible for reimbursing expenses to the coordinators/trainers with the funds provided by CDP and providing the required financial and operational reports to the Australian Committee on an agreed timeframe. All financial and operational reports are supplied to CDP in the UK so that we can ensure that the money we donate is thoroughly accounted for and spent wisely.
CDP is funded entirely from voluntary donations and fund-raising efforts. It has several individuals who give monthly. In 2023, In 2023, CDP partnered with Luton Christian Fellowship (LCF), the home church of our founder, Margot. LCF provides regular monthly donations and technical support to help run the charity. The balance of CDP's income comes from individuals and groups running fundraising activities.
With the plan to expand the CDP training program to more countries in Africa over the next two years, CDP will need to raise funds for its operations to meet its objectives and goals for this period. The methods CDP will employ to generate the necessary funds for operational costs over the next two years include:
• Approaching private/organisational donors
• In-person fundraising events
